Yorkshire-based energy-efficient specialist, Ploughcroft Roofing is proud to sponsor Halifax homeless charity, SmartMove, in a unique fundraising event that gives people the chance to raise money for a worthy cause by sleeping under the stars in one of the area’s most well-known buildings.
The “Under One Roof” fundraiser takes place on the night of the 13th November in Halifax’s Shay Stadium with each participant being asked to raise £100 sponsorship to spend the night in the famous stands, with organisers hoping to raise a total of more than £10,000.
With temperatures in November dropping to a chilly minus 2 at night, the event will provide valuable funds to support SmartMove’s important work, helping the homeless and vulnerably housed people in Calderdale find accommodation.
Craig George, fundraising and relationship manager at SmartMove, said: “Homelessness is a serious issue across the UK, especially as we approach winter and the temperatures start to drop. This event aims to raise awareness of this important issue, and show people the reality of sleeping rough; albeit for one night only in the safety of a stadium. We are looking forward to raising some important funds, and are greatful for Ploughcroft Eco-Roof for making the event possible.”
Chris Hopkins, managing director of Ploughcroft Eco-Roof, said: “In our business, we are used to putting roofs over people’s heads, but we also understand the scale of not only homelessness, but of those in vulnerable housing throughout Calderdale. That’s why we’ve agreed to sponsor and promote this event for SmartMove, helping them raise as much as they can for this important cause.”
