Following the announcement that the government will be extending the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund, adding £100million in subsidies for those who want to insulate their properties, it has now been confirmed that applications for up to £30 million in vouchers will be available for householders throughout England and Wales from 9.00am on this Wednesday, 10th December.
The additional cash in the fund is the second tranche offered as part of the government scheme to increase the energy efficiency capabilities of homes throughout the UK, after applications for the first £450million opened in May but were scooped up in less than three months, with the fund running dry by the end of July.
Following the success of the previous Green Deal funding, this Wednesday’s applications are expected to be submitted in record time and as a result, the funding should run out before the weeks end. As a result of this, Ploughcroft is urging any homeowners looking to make energy efficiency improvements to their home, to apply sooner rather than later.
Homeowners should act fast, and take advantage of the free cash to help with the cost of installing energy saving measures such as solid wall insulation, double glazing, boilers, cavity wall and floor insulation.
Through this second release of funding, domestic energy customers can now receive:
• up to £4000 for installing solid wall insulation and/or
• up to £1000 for installing two measures from an approved list
• up to £100 refunded for their Green Deal Assessment if they go on to install measures through the scheme.
As funds are limited, the £30 million has been split into two categories:
• Up to £24 million for solid wall insulation
• Up to £6 million for two measures from a list of home improvements available under the scheme
Once the funding under each category has been committed, no more applications will be taken for that category – although applications will still be taken for the other category if funds are still available.
