The UK has become the first major economy to pass a law for its zero-carbon target. As The Guardian reported this month, the government hopes to cut our greenhouse gas emissions to “net zero” by 2050, thus ending our contribution to global warming.
Theresa May has said:
“This country led the world in innovation during the Industrial Revolution, and now we must lead the world to a cleaner, greener form of growth. Standing by is not an option. Reaching net zero by 2050 is an ambitious target but it is crucial that we achieve it to ensure we protect our planet for future generations.”
Of course, as well as planting more trees here and there, this means reducing our carbon output. It means more green, renewable electricity for us Brits. It’ll be the end of using traditional gas boilers to heat our homes.
Today, it’s more important than ever to do our bit for the environment. At Ploughcroft, we believe in individual efforts to reduce our country’s carbon footprint. This means cutting down on our energy usage, particularly in our homes, or moving to greener alternatives.
One of the easiest ways to use up energy is by heating your home and letting it go literally through the roof. So, remember to insulate before you generate. You can easily do this by installing an energy-efficient Eco Roof™ thermal blanket.
As well as saving you money on heating bills, Ploughcroft’s Eco Roof™ is perfect for being more eco-friendly. Does what it says on the tin. Installing an Eco Roof in your home can raise your property’s Energy Performance Certificate by two bands.
Another way to use less energy from fossil fuels is to use more renewable energy instead … solar energy, for example. Instead of using energy from harmful sources, you can generate and store your own green, harmless energy with our solar PV hybrid systems.
Every little helps. In order to help the UK towards our zero-carbon target, have a think about what you can do to live a greener lifestyle.
