Stoke-on-Trent, often abbreviated to just Stoke, is a big city in Staffordshire, England. Stoke-on-Trent has a population of 457,165 which is calculated from the rural Staffordshire Moorlands area and the Potteries Urban Area. Stoke-on-Trent is well recognised in the pottery industries and there is a reason why it has obtained the nickname of ‘The Potteries'. In the modern age, Stoke-on-Trent is a buzzing centre for distribution centres and also for the service industry.

The city of Stoke-on-Trent has a wonderful array of museums and art galleries. The potteries has a very distinct local dialect and contains many standard words that are understood throughout Stoke-on-Trent, some examples are 'slat' which means to throw and 'nesh' which means something soft and tender.
