The history of Manchester is rich in the textile industry and was the first place where the industrial revolution happened. Manchester was dubbed 'Cottonopolis' and 'Warehouse City' due to its skills in the mass manufacturing of textiles.

The buildings in Manchester can be quite varied in architectural styles, ranging from Victorian to contemporary. In the north of the borough you can find the award winning Heaton Park and the city boasts a whopping 135 parks, gardens and open spaces.

Manchester has a fantastic music scene and for that we have to thank Manchester for producing immense talent such as Oasis, The Buzzcocks, The Stone Roses and many more. These bands originated from what they refer to as ‘Madchester’, something which relates to the avid nightlife in the city which majorly expanded in 1993.
