It’s good to hear that Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker is currently leading a Green trade mission to the USA to promote green goods and services. The aim of the visit is to strengthen the UK and US trade relationship and build the business case for a move to a low carbon economy. Read the rest of this entry »
Interested parties will have noted that last week (end of March) it was announced that the UK Supreme Court has refused the Government’s leave to appeal against changes to the Feed in Tariff.
The decision means that all solar photovoltaic (PV) installations registered between 12th December and 3rd March will receive the higher pre-consultation feed-in tariff rate (£0.433/kWh for sub 4 kW systems) rather than the lower tariff rates now in effect (£0.21/kWh for sub 4 kW systems).
We think this is fair in the interests of homeowners who had solar installed within these dates. The 21p per kWh still represents a good investment for homeowners and we’re continuing to see rising demand for solar PV.

We are really excited about Deborah Meaden taking part in our solar panel demo at the Homebuilding & Renovating Show, this Friday from 11.20am at our stand. Deborah will be working with our team to demonstrate how a specialist solar installation is carried out and we will also be showing visitors the full range of renewable technologies that we offer.
We’ve had lots of interest from the press to interview Deborah – and if you’ve always wanted to meet her – now’s your chance!
See you at the NEC on Friday 30th March, Hall 5, Stand L185.
Ploughcroft Renewables would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Ploughcroft Renewable Training team for all their hard work to achieve the Cskills accreditation for Solar PV for Roofers 2 day course.
Ploughcroft started the process with Cskills Awards in the summer of 2011. “This is an illustration of the in-depth detail both Ploughcroft and Cskills have undergone to ensure a standalone qualification for roofer s is available. We are of course very proud to have designed this course and have Cskills accredited it” Chris Hartley, Renewable Trainer.
Adrian English a leading member of the product development team had this to say “Cskills Awards is excited to be working in partnership with Ploughcroft Training to accredit their courses. Working with a quality training provider in this innovative sector has helped us ensure our new accreditation service is straightforward and easy to use ready for the launch of the service.”
We will be unveiling the accreditation at our renewable training centre soon. And we hope you can come along and see the development of the course and meet some of Ploughcrofts and Cskills highly knowledgeable teams.
If you’ve ever had a burning question about solar PV but never dared to ask, now’s your chance!
Chris Hopkins, Managing Director of Ploughcroft, has launched ‘Ask Chris’, a web-based portal that welcomes questions from anyone about solar PV or other green technologies.
It’s great news that the RD SAP software for producing Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) has been designed to accommodate solar PV. That means a house with an EPC ‘E’ rating could potentially achieve a ‘D’ rating when a solar PV system is installed and therefore the homeowner would receive the 21p FiT rate. Only properties in EPC band D or above qualify for the full FiT.
